CPL(A) Training
EASA Modular CPL(A) Training
1. Entry Requirements
-
PPL(A) with night rating
-
150 hrs total time before starting CPL course
-
200 hrs total time before CPL skill test (of which: 100 hrs PIC, 20 hrs cross-country PIC incl. 300 NM qualifying flight)
-
Class 1 medical
-
Theoretical exams: ATPL theory or CPL theory passed
2. Course Structure
-
Theoretical Knowledge:
-
If ATPL theory already passed, this step is covered.
-
Otherwise ~250 hrs CPL theory (can be done online or classroom).
-
-
Flight Training (minimum 25 hrs if SEP, 15 hrs if ME):
-
10 hrs instrument training (max 5 hrs can be in FNPT II simulator)
-
5 hrs night flight training (if not done already for night rating)
-
5 hrs on complex aircraft (variable pitch prop, retractable gear, constant-speed prop, etc.)
-
Navigation, general handling, advanced maneuvers
-
???? If you already hold an IR(A), the CPL training requirement reduces (some hours overlap).
3. Skill Test
-
Conducted by an EASA examiner in a complex aircraft (usually a single-engine complex or multi-engine trainer).
-
Tests advanced maneuvers, navigation, abnormal procedures, and overall airmanship.
4. Outcome
-
Licence endorsed as CPL(A).
-
Privileges: Act as PIC on single-pilot aircraft for commercial air transport, or as co-pilot on multi-pilot aircraft.
